Just pictures and captions- Art walking tour

So here is a post in pictures.  Please note that I am taking pictures of unique things- to me anyway.  We do have fancy restaurants, beautiful mansions and real malls and grocery stores.  Oh my gosh- I forgot
to mention I went to the real mall last Wednesday.  There were shops I recognized and even a food court. Then I went to the grocery in the same mall and found pork tenderloin and beef tenderloin for about $3.00 a pound. Imagine that!!!!

So back to the pictures, my thinking is- you guys see that stuff everyday. So i try to capture old Myanmar, cultural Myanmar.  These pictures are of  the day I went on the walking art tour.  I posted some of them on Facebook also.  This man is one example of the many ways people transport things.  he is probably selling whatever is in the pot.

Typical stall that lines the roads.
This is the man that works across form my house making bales of grass.  i wrote about him th ethe last blog.
He graciously let me take his picture.  he will now haul the bundles to who knows where, for who knows what.  his back must be so strong to carry load after load.

I think I scared him off.
 Old building

We dined here and tried not to look at the water they were taking our utensils out of.

 art gallery
repainting.  bamboo scaffolding .  It must be strong because I see it all over.

 making spices
They were excited to pose and had us all laughing.

Cool old street lights.  i found out the other day that the guard for our neighborhood drives around at dusk and turns on all the street lights by hand. Who would have known?

 I want one!!!
The electricity panel for an old building.  I do not think it would be up to code.
Scary-- although the buildings are made of concrete so I do not know how much would burn.

 beautiful tiled floors.
I have yet to have tea at one of these stations.  I am afraid if i sat down I would not be able to stand up. Talk about inner core strength!

Myanmar's version of half priced books.

 random spot to play checkers.
The making of a bamboo fence.

yes, sidewalk, sidewalk, sidewalk, and bammmm no sidewalk.
 Government building

 Interesting service to provide.
That's all for now.  More to come after Inle Lake. Soo excited. we will see silver smiths, boat races and silk demonstrations as well as the beauty of the area. We will also provide entertainment for an orphanage.  I know my heart will break but I look forward to seeing my students open up their hearts.
