Here Goes!

I have decided to blog about my last year of teaching and the process of taking on new goals and dreams.  It is my goal to post daily and write what I experience and feel.  Today was the diversity conference and I learned a great deal.  One thing I learned is that teachers are the worst audience (ok- I already knew that but every year I attend a conference, I am reminded of it).  So many were texting, playing spades, sleeping, reading and generally unengaged.  We have a college professor sharing research, important research, and yet it is not entertaining enough.  I will stop here because I want this to be a positive blog.
Ok- The main thing I learned was that there are enthusiastic teachers being hired every year.  I can be replaced and will feel good about leaving because there are more people coming into the profession who have passion.  I was so glad to meet Alycia aka AT and look forward to her sparking change at Connally.

Now I am off to fill out my DoD application in my quest to teach overseas.  Here is the check list so far:
Joined ISS (International School Services) and filled out all their stuff
Joined TIE TIE Online - Teach Abroad: Get An International Teaching Job And Pursue An Overseas Career In Education and filled out all their stuff
Applied to be Foreign Service diplomat
Signed up for the Foreign Service officer test

I have a major list of things to do and I plan on finishing next week so I can concentrate on teaching.
