Best laid plans....
So I started a blog at the first of the school year with the goal of writing daily. Here it is May and I have only one post. Much has happened this year. I will try to recap. I have an awesome group of kids in AVID. They have worked hard and I have grown to love them. The sophomores have a great work ethic and I feel as though they are actually listening to the tips and things I am saying; the juniors are amazing and really setting some high goals for college. They could run the tutor sessions they have it down so well. And then there are the seniors. I should be writing about them at the first of the year because frankly about this time of year they are shut down and extremely frustrating. It is what is right about the cycle we go through- you have to have some of this frustration or every teacher of seniors would be a basket case at the end of the school year. We have to let them go in hopes that they remember the important stuff we teach them and in fear that they will _____ (fill in the blank here with what you did as a teen!). I am proud of the program and sad to be leaving it. I am confident that whoever takes it over will bring their own flare and passion and do what's best for the kids- always what's best for the kids.
Yes, I am leaving. I am retiring from teaching in Texas and going overseas. Now there is a story and another example of the allusion of the title.
