Friday: A really nice meal

I treated myself to a nice meal at a wonderful Italian place called L’Opera. The Caesar salad was delish and the pasta and Sea Bass was also good. I cannot do many $65.00 meals but it nice to know I can if I am homesick for familiar food. I passed up on the Indian fare others were going to go to Friday night because I am still a little weary of getting sick. Here is their description from an all email: “ I would like to invite you all to a second round of YIS Teachers to "Chetty" to celebrate our first week of school!  After last spring's popularity, I invite you to come enjoy some Southern Indian Cuisine together.

Please note this is a local restaurant and not a western style, OSHA approved, eatery.  The guys working the oven have their shirts off wearing just a longyi, the servers bring your curries in buckets with ladles, and best of all, the prices are cheap with unlimited curries and rice!  I love it.

My favorite recommendation is vegetable chapati, however, many teachers are trying to convince me that the Dosa is just as good :)  They have vegetarian, asr well as wonderful mutton dishes! There is also an amazing smoothie shop just down the road for dessert or for a drink during the meal.  The restaurant also has many other teas and drinks.

I will get them to go again once I my body has adjusted to the humidity but to me curry and no air conditioning do not mix.

  1. Lovely. Keep up the blog. I'm going to write during this year about my 25th year of teaching. Not going to do it on a blog however, too public. And I want to be honest.

    1. Thanks. it has been kind of fun. I had planned to blog about my last year at chs and did not keep it up (well- I really only did one). Once you start it gets a little addictive especially when people email you and ask for a post. You can make the blog invite only. Whatever you do, make sure you give me a link. I think my first trip will be Cambodia to see the beach and the killing fields- quite a juxtaposition huh?
